FAQs
What is the dress code for your wedding?
Please, nothing formal. We’ll be in the mountains, so think relaxed, comfortable, and ready to spend time outside. Flannel, boots, Tevas, sweaters, linen, whatever feels like you. Suits, ties, long dresses, and heels will probably feel out of place.
And yes, if white brings you joy, you can wear it to the ceremony. We’re confident everyone will be able to figure out who’s getting married.
Are children and pets welcome?
Children - Little campers are very welcome and highly encouraged. They’re part of our community. We love the idea of this being a weekend for families, and there will be plenty of room to roam, explore, and get dirty.
Pets - As much as we love your dogs (and ours), this weekend is for humans only. The area has bears, coyotes, and other hazards, and we don’t want to see anyone’s buddy injured or lost. Garth will also be sitting this one out and has asked that everyone respect his privacy during this difficult time.
What’s the food situation?
We’ll provide Friday dinner, Saturday dinner, and Sunday breakfast. You’re on your own for other meals, but there’s a restaurant and general store onsite, other food options nearby, and onsite cabins have a kitchenette. Pack those Uncrustables!
If you’re vegan or gluten-free, etc., let us know about any dietary restrictions when you RSVP and we’ll make sure there’s something good for you to eat.
What can we do during the day?
Get outside. Swim, hike, paddle the lake, find a sunny rock, read a book, take a nap, or do absolutely nothing. The Carson Pass area is one of the premier wildflower zones of California and one of the best areas for spectacular hikes, many of them short. Silver Lake also has boat, kayak, canoe, paddle boat, and stand-up paddleboard rentals. And if you’re local and have your own water contraption, bring it!
What will the weather be like?
Expect warm days, and cool mornings and evenings. We’ll be outside a lot, so comfortable shoes and layers are a sensible idea.
Will there be cell service and Wi-Fi?
There’s minimal to no cell reception onsite. Wi-fi is available at the Lodge common areas if you need to call home or check in with your corporate overlords. But this is our gentle plea to put your phone away, if you can bear it. Wander down to the lake. Take the long way back to your cabin. Sit around the fire without documenting it. This would make us extremely happy.
Who’s taking the pictures?
You are (please)! We’re skipping the photographer and leaving disposable cameras around the property instead. Use them liberally. Document the beautiful, the blurry, the questionable, and anything you think we’ll want evidence of later. Phones, on the other hand, we’d love to see as little as possible. Snap something if you must, then put it away and rejoin us in 1997.
